Om dette arrangement

Maria Dybbroe and the Aarhus quintet Caktus are on a release tour for their 3rd album, ‘Øyeblikk’, and we're thrilled they're celebrating with us at HeadQuarters on May 22nd! ➤ HQ opens: 19:00 ➤ Showtime: 20:00 ➤ Presale: 80 DKK ➤ Door: 110 DKK ➤ HQ DJs: 23:00 – 05:00 (from midnight – 40 DKK incl. wardrobe) Caktus: The album presents a brand-new, ambitious collaboration with the Norwegian big band OJKOS, expanding the lineup from 5 to 15 musicians, though on this evening, we'll experience them in their quintet constellation. The chamber music aesthetic is expanded, gaining new timbres and greater dynamics that add complexity to both brand-new material and older Caktus hits. ‘Øyeblikk’ is a fresh and exciting take on what big band music can be in 2026—it's sensory and tactile, fragile and magnificent. It harnesses the full potential of a big band while leaving space for individual instruments to shine, allowing you to experience many different chamber music constellations throughout the hour-long album. The album's titles reveal compositions that seek to capture moments from different places around Oslo and specific events from Maria's first years living in both Norway and Denmark. We hear the ambivalent feelings and thoughts—the hope and nostalgia one can feel on New Year's Eve. We're invited into intimate spaces—her childhood garden, or the dream of a garden she wished she had. We're drawn into fantasies about the mythical name of the city Trollhättan, sparked every time the train passes the station where Maria never disembarks, instead imagining trolls and dark forests with equal parts fear and fascination. The title ‘Øyeblikk’ (Moment) also refers to music in a live setting, which exists only in the here and now. When we listen to live music, we experience something truly unique together—we witness something authentic and imperfect. Isn't that beautiful? And isn't that exactly what we need in an increasingly divided and digitalized world? Music forges bonds between people and the events in a person's life. The moment and life itself are fleeting, but in compositions and recorded music like this album, we can preserve and revisit moments, giving us a chance to remember old memories while creating new ones as we listen again. Caktus is one of the most distinctive young bands on the Scandinavian jazz scene. They have a completely unique lineup and sound, blending chamber music and grooves, taking the listener on a sensory journey through diverse landscapes and moods with their cinematic music. The music meanders organically and dynamically through both fragile and expressive passages—a world of beauty and abstraction. The focus is on their acoustic sound, the interplay of the instruments, and a powerful, elastic interpretation of their nearly through-composed music.
