Their energy leaps out of the speakers, their tempo will make any fist-pumping speed purist frown, and their irreverence artfully dances on the line between provocative and antagonistic without ever being childish or cruel. Yes, the power trio from Minneapolis unleashes their jester's privilege on their new album ‘Split With Turnstile’ with a tongue bored straight through their cheek, spitting a little bit of blood at you. More than anything, Citric Dummies represent a natural progression from bands like Reagan Youth with biting, fast, and extremely tight drum parts, where the closed hi-hat is particularly catchy and reminiscent of the speeds of bands like Generacion Suicida, Dark Thoughts, or even The Ergs! Riff-wise, the band has much more in common with the Barely Legal-era Hives, Dwarves, and bits of early Arctic Monkeys, while vocalist/bassist "David Lunch" shouts, roars, and wails throughout ‘Split With Turnstile’; a simple deviation from what was described as "almost a Danzig-imitation" on their 2023 release, ‘Zen and the Arcade of Beating Your Ass’. However, Citric Dummies exude a love for absurdity that none of these bands possess. The Gobs: The Gobs are a punk/synth-punk band from Olympia, Washington, known for their energetic lo-fi garage rock sound with synth-driven, edgy, and catchy tracks, often compared to German punk and darkwave.
