Om dette arrangement

Travel back in time to the good old days with us this afternoon in the cozy jazz club vibe at HeadQuarters. We're setting the stage for a panel discussion packed with anecdotes and fantastic stories from the golden age of jazz and the last 50-60 years of music history in Aarhus. ➤ HQ opens: 4:30 PM ➤ Event starts: 5:00 PM ➤ Free Entry This conversation is the first of two we're hosting in partnership with JazzDanmark to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Danish Jazz! Jens Klüver founded and ran what is now known as the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Back in his day, it was simply Klüvers Bigband. For decades, he's been a prominent saxophonist and has played a key role in the history of the Aarhus Jazz Festival. During his time with Klüvers Big Band, he championed music education, bringing rhythmic music to a wider audience, especially through school concerts. Jens Jefsen is a double bassist whose career took off in 1969. At Jazzhus Tagskægget, he was tasked with accompanying nearly every American jazz legend who came to town, including Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, Ben Webster, Clark Terry, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, and Roy Eldridge. Ilse Vestergaard was the director of the Aarhus Jazz Festival from its very beginning in 1989 until she retired in 2022. She was hired by Musikhuset Aarhus back in 1981, where she later became the head of events. In other words, she’s had a hand in shaping a huge part of the Aarhus music scene for over 40 years. Henrik Schultz Petersen has lived his life as a passionate jazz fan. You won't find anyone who can beat his record for concerts attended at the Aarhus Jazz Festival. He is also a member of the Aarhus Jazz Festival's board of directors.
